Casting Call / Local shooting dates pushed back for upcoming Clooney film
Lights, camera, action! Auditions begin soon for local actors who want to be ‘extras’ in George Clooney’s new movie, most of which will be filmed in St. Louis.
Open auditions will be announced on January 16.
The movie is called ‘Up in The Air’ and two St. Louisans, veteran casting director Joni Tackette and Sharon Tucci, owner of the ‘Talent Plus’ agency, are in the thick of it.
George Clooney is expected to spend up to eight weeks shooting at various locations. As many as 2,000 extras could be hired from the open call.
Shooting has been pushed back from late February and early March to mid-March. Tackette and Tucci say extras don’t need experience, but they will need stamina. The work days can last up to 12 hours.
And Tucci has a suggestion for those who would like to work as extras.
“You can bring a hard copy and on the back of that hard copy photo, put your contact information,” Tucci says. “Name, address, email address, cell numbers, day numbers and that information will be submitted to the casting director.”
Some actors, those who will have speaking parts, have already been contacted and they begin auditions on Monday.
The movie itself begins shooting at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport and other locations in mid-March.
