Stan Rosenfield Q&A plus Nomination for the ICG Publicists Award

201_7747401_stanrosenfieldlargeCongratulations to Stan Rosenfield on his nomination for the ICG Publicists Les Mason Award.   The Les Mason Award honors an outstanding current member, regardless of his or her geographical location, whose achievements have been outstanding; whose work reflects the highest professional ideals worthy of being singled out by his or her peers for the highest honor the Publicists can bestow on one of its own members.

Mr Rosenfield began his career with Jay Bernstein working his way up to a VP postions in the company.  Establishing his own Public Relations firm in the mid 70’s, Rosenfield & Associates, Mr Rosenfield’s  client list has grown to include a multitude of  accomplished entertainers including Robert DeNiro, Danny DeVito, John Goodman, Will Smith, George Clooney, Kelly Ripa and Andy Garcia.

In response to my request, Mr Rosenfield has graciously agreed to answer a few questions for us here at Clooney Unlimited.

When and How did you get started in the public relations business?

Actually, it is kind of bland story.  I was looking for a job after I graduated college and I received a phone call from a guy I had grown up with in Oklahoma City who had an opening in his very successful pr company and had asked if I wanted to come to work for him.

What would you say is the biggest difference from when you started to present time?

We are only reflective of the media.  When I started, there was only television, print and radio.  No internet, no blogging; no cable, no skywriting, so professionally  you might adjust to the outlets.

How has the internet changed the way you handle your clients PR?

The internet gives us immediate access to the world within seconds.

What would be the most challenging aspect of your job today?

The most challenging aspect of my job on any day, any year is keeping up with the technology, and keeping a focus on our goals, both short term and long term.

How long have you worked with Mr. Clooney?

Since the first year of ER.

What would you say would be the most interesting aspect of working with Mr. Clooney?

The way he can energize a room

Other finalists for the Les Manor  are Tony Angellotti, Vivian Boyer, Deborah Wuliger and Warner Bros. publicists Barbara Hannegan and Maureen O’Malley.  The winner will be announced March 5 at the Century Plaza at the Intl. Cinematographers Guild’s 47th Annual Publicists awards ceremonies.
