George No.6 in the World’s Top 100 Hunks

Which of these is the world’s sexiest man…neither, it’s this one;Girls’ pin-up poll turns out unlikely winner

SOMETHING has gone very wrong with the latest list of the world’s Top 100 hunks. I like A Million Love Songs as much as the next girl, but there is NO WAY Take That should be voted at No1 ahead of James Bond’s cool Daniel Craig or dishy Johnny Depp. I won’t deny the, ahem, boy band have made a brilliant comeback but, led by tubby Gary Barlow, they are hardly poster material any more. Watching Gazza, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Howard Donald do their sweaty, panting dance routines is now more Full Monty than full-on sexy. How can any woman put them ahead of the gods Craig and Depp? Ten thousand women, with an average age of 28, voted in the poll for New Woman magazine. Come on, girls! Did you fall asleep during the new 007’s breathtaking beach scenes? Surely a man who can carry off such teeny trunks deserves to beat roly-poly Barlow, right? And did you forget Depp’s divine pirate pose, above? They also found Orlando Bloom was fourth sexiest, Jake Gyllenhaal fifth, George Clooney, sixth, and Brad Pitt, last year’s winner, seventh. I rest my case. OK, Brad dumped Jen for Ange but six places behind sullen Jason? It doesn’t get any better looking down the list - foul-mouthed Russell Brand is at 14, six ahead of beautiful Becks. And who has even heard of - let alone voted for - Luke Pritchard, Julian McMahon or Chris Fountain? The only consolation is that boggle-eyed Pete Doherty has been demoted from 18th position right to the bottom. New Woman? George came in number 6 on the Quigley Top Ten Money-Making stars of 2006 Poll.

The Quigley Poll, conducted every year since 1932, is an annual survey of motion picture exhibitors, which asks them to vote for the ten stars that they believe generated the most box-office revenue in the preceding year for their theatres.
