George jokes around at the PGA Luncheon

Being the butt of a joke should be nothing new for Sarah Palin—except this time, it’s not for her politics.

Following news that S.P. had a bad case of the gimmes at the Silver Spoon Oscar Suite in Hollywood earlier this week, known jokester George Clooney savored the opportunity to take a shot at the questionably witted soccer mom. At the Publicists Guild Awards luncheon in L.A. this afternoon, George schlepped about 10 overflowing gift bags onstage while presenting his longtime flack Stan Rosenfeld with the Les Mason Award. Once at the mic, Clooney kindly apologized for his baggage, claiming he’d run into the former Alaskan governor in the gifting lounge.

Sarah may need a drink after that jab.

The American in Sweden

Anton Corbijn has updated his blog with a few pics from the filming in Sweden.  Visit Anton’s Blog here.

Whoever said that Sweden can be cold in the winter wasn’t wrong.  We filmed the beginning of the film at the very end of our shooting schedule: Late January in the middle of Sweden, Ostersund.  We filmed on a frozen lake in -20° celsius so that was tough on everyone, especially on the actors.  Other than the cold it was just a splendid time – wonderful light, amazing white landscapes and short days filming.  George had been able to grow a beard in the time between the end of the Italy shoot and this Swedish part, so there are two very different looks to him in the movie.

We shot a ferry crossing while we were standing with equipment and 5 vans ON the ice -that is how thick and hard the ice is. That is, by the way, not the picture shown, as that is the film camera and the snow scooters, which is how we shot most of the Sweden section.  It is fun driving these scooters but beware if you sit on the back of my scooter and decide to go backwards.  You might find out that Sweden is very pretty horizontally.

George Presents Les Mason Award to Stan

George attended the 47th annual Publicists Awards luncheon Friday to present with the Les Mason Award.  The Les Mason Award honors an outstanding current member, regardless of his or her geographical location, whose achievements have been outstanding; whose work reflects the highest professional ideals worthy of being singled out by his or her peers for the highest honor the Publicists can bestow on one of its own members.  Stan took the time to answer a few Q&A’s for Clooney Unlimited earlier and you can read those here.  The luncheon was held at Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel and honored many in the business including James Cameron with the Motion Picture Showmanship Award.
